Differences from Ethereum
FRWA is built on the OP —the same stack that powers all OP chains. The Optimism aims to maintain a high level of compatibility and consistency with Ethereum, so in general, you should be able to deploy your contracts from Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains directly on FRWA with no modifications. This page details the remaining minor differences.
L2 Rollup Specific Features
There are some additional features on FRWA specific to L2 rollups and the OP:
Ethereum contracts can send messages directly on FRWA with Retryable Tickets.
FRWA contracts can send messages directly on Ethereum after 7 days.
FRWA has specific precompiles with special fixed addresses that do not exist on Ethereum.
Users on FRWA must pay gas fees in FRWA for (1) storing their transaction data as L1 call data and (2) executing the transaction on L2, covering the costs of computation and storage. See "Gas and Fees" in the official OP documentation for more details.
